Another beautiful day in paradise

We went on long beach walk today from Ledge Beach to Gull Rock. Gull Rock Beach named of course because of the large number of Gulls found on the rock just off shore, one of whom Captain Kalgan thinks might have been Jonathan Livingstone! Gull Rock is 26k East of Albany. The water was a turquoise colour and we were tempted to jump in. Dad cannot believe that on such a beautiful day we were about the only ones on the beach. After our walk we picked up some beers and Fish & Chips and went to a local beach to enjoy. Of course drinking on the beach is not really allowed and neither is drinking in the car. But Dad managed to hide what he what he was doing :-). I also took Dad on a walk through our garden and showed him the many variety of Eucalyptus trees growing on our block. Showed him the 10 that our neighbours cut down too.

Let the Mud Run/Wrestle begin

Mouth to Mouth by a Fire Brigade Officer on a Teddy Bear

On the last day of Term 3 Mount Barker Community College holds its annual traditional 'Mud Run'. Despite all the concerns about Occupational Health and Safety the person who tries to ban this tradition would be a very brave person indeed. As part of a good behaviour standing certain students are given the opportunity to participate. They get dressed up and run about 1.5 km to the mud pit at the back of the farm. Teachers are in the mud pit and the students aim is get them into the mud. As the winter has been quite dry the fire brigade filled it up with water. Dad thought it was a 'riot'. He wore a Mount Barker Rugby Top and fit right in.

Torndirrup National Park

Becki and Dad took a drive through the Torndirrup National Park today. This park is home to a range of spectacular natural wonders, such as 'The Natural Bridge' 'The Gap' and 'The Blowholes' At the end of the drive is the Whaling Station and Frenchman's Bay. This is the most visited national park in Western Australia. The drive through Torndirrup is stunning and leads down to the rugged southern coastline.

At the end of the day they enjoyed a cup of 'Naked Bean' Coffee. Nothing beats the smell and taste of coffee direct from the roaster. And we have our very own here in Albany.
